Love on the Line

Another reason to love Portland--it's the perfect city to make crazy projects fly.
Clara and I had the priviledge of visiting Pink this week--a free love letter courier service! For a limited time you could go to temporary Pink headquarters in an empty storefront downtown and type or write a love letter, which was then clipped by clothespin to a bike-wheel powered line and conveyed across the room while all the workers yelled "Love on the Line!," to then be inserted in a lovely little glass bottle with a hand-sewn label and delivered by a bike messenger dressed in pink to the recipients of your choice. It was done in Austin, TX, first, but Portland is the second and most perfect city for something so fantastic. Clara repeated "Love on the Line!" in the car all the way home. One of our messages was delivered tonight, by the most cheerful boy as Amy and Clara were out playing in the yard before bed. What a great finish to the day!
