Happy New Year!

Lots to be thankful for around here. One thing that is small on the grand scale but seemed huge this month....We have our car back! One month to the day from the time we left it at the mechanic's. This is a sad photo, I know, but we don't have a scanner so it's a digital photo of our mechanic's polaroid of our very complicated engine, which he had to take apart to fix the cracked head gasket. Five weeks with no car and a toddler during the rainy season. Ack. Good thing our neighborhood is walkable and that we have good friends who didn't mind a little inconvenience to haul us around. We're glad to have it back--thanks, Bill!On the larger scale...the funny monkey and her so-far-healthy-and-staying-put little sister. Ellis is officially 'older' than Ellery and Olivia were when they were born, and is now in the 'viable' category (though obviously we are hoping for many more weeks before she arrives). The photo is Clara preparing cilantro for enchiladas. She loves to cook. She makes us laugh every day, even on the days we also find ourselves pulling a few hairs out.And on the seasonal scale...handmade gifts! We only had to purchase two gifts all season, and only because we didn't plan well enough to make those in time. We made everything else. Here's a little preview, but you can see them all on our Flickr album, except the things we made for Clara. You can see Amy's table in the Xmas photos, and I just made her a tablecloth and napkins to go with it. For gifts this year we got really into shrinky dink pins and freezer paper transfer. Now we're on to Valentine's Day!
