Clara loves to look at books and has her favorites, but her favorite thing to 'read' by far is what she calls "The Golden Magazine," National Geographic. She's clearly inherited Amy's love for nonfiction and is seldom seen without a dog-eared copy of National Geographic. She can turn right to her favorite pictures in her best-loved issues; she's looked through them so many times she's memorized where the "pretty mannequins" the "bat-dog" and the "cut artichoke" are. She intends, actually, based on one National Geographic photo, to ask Santa for her own mannequin to put in her room "so I can hug it." I would not recommend National Geographic as an ideal two-year-old selection, as we've had to lie or try to explain several photos of severed monkey arms and dead children, but overall The Golden Magazine appears to be quite a fascinating read.
