More Perfection

When people visit from out of town, there is usually some comment made about how we live in the perfect neighborhood. It's true. The grocery store where it takes a half hour extra every time you go in because of how many people you stop to chat with, the little horses on the rings in the sidewalk to remind us of the neighborhood's history, the 100+ year old amusement park, the free 24-hour-tea-station, the block parties, the outdoor movies at the public pool in the summer, the free concerts in the park, the annual neighborhood association ice cream social, the organic farm supply with chickens and goats, the public children's playhouse, the annual egg hunt, the antique stores and charming restaurants...the list kind of goes on and on. Some of our neighbors had been bragging to one of their skeptical mothers about the neighborhood--when she came to visit they went for a walk and saw roving carolers, a free horse-drawn carriage on the street, and skaters on the frozen-over casting pond at the park. (Okay, not a typical day, but you get the idea). Today we got to add the neighborhood Catholic school's St. Patrick's Day Parade and carnival to the perfect Sellwood list!

These people cracked us up. There was a fire truck, the middle school marching band, and the lone bagpiper, but most other parade-goers ended up being a part of the parade at some point. But this couple brought their own folding chair!

How can your day get much happier than riding home on your bike with a goldfish in your basket? They also had jars of colored balls and striped candy sticks for prizes, which was totally sweet.

The new additions to our household, Daisy Rose (officially Belle Jasmine Sparkle Jewel Daisy Rose) and Spotty Hop (full name Spotty Hop Rose Hop). Good thing every good first grade teacher has fish bowl supplies in the basement! :)
