We had a very fun playgroup event recently that we called The Pigtail Party. It was easy to throw and although we were lucky enough to have a professional stylist in our ranks to host it in her salon, it would be simple to do in someone's house. We needed a little inspiration around here for some new 'dos, as well as some help with the basics (Mama isn't the best at French braiding!). Courtney from our playgroup and her wonderful cousin Nyssa agreed to show the mamas a few simple hairstyles we could do on our kids, using the girls as models so each of them got their hair done for the day.
Of course they all wanted French braids. :) The girls brought their dolls so they could work on their hair while waiting for their turn, and we had snacks.
Everyone also brought a package of hair accessories to split, so the kids all went home with a little bag containing a variety of clips, bands, etc. A few of the mamas got really ambitious and made
darling clips for the girls.
I made some simple drawstring bags for the girls' hair accessories--Clara made Shrinky-Dink labels for each one.
Sorting by color and dividing up the hair bands equally was a good activity for Clara.
This was my attempt at home later of one of the simplest styles Courtney showed us--you just twist little sections of hair and secure them with bobby pins. They stay in amazingly well, unless you have a child who likes to brush her hair at school! :) I still need a little practice, but it was fun to have a few new tools in the arsenal. You have a lovely blog and beautiful daughters! My four year old also loves having her hair done and to do mine - ouch! :) This is my first time visiting but I shall return often.
