Obon is a Japanese Buddhist festival to honor ancestors. I love this celebration--last year we had a similarly breezy, blue-sky day and the lanterns hung with the names of loved ones who have left us always make me think of Elle and Livi in such a cheerful, peaceful way. The dancers are in their colorful summer kimonos and the Taiko drummers are joy personified. Even Ellis gazed about in wonder.
