What do you do when it's 8:00 at night and you need to put in a load of wash, do the dinner dishes, clean up the house before your partner who has been gone for a week comes home the next day, pack a swim bag for tomorrow's beach outing, gather car activities for the kids, make a picnic salad, finish and wrap two birthday presents and put in your nightly prep time for the job interview in which you are hoping to ace out the other 340 applicants? Are you kidding? OF COURSE you make a glasses case for your three-year-old's $4 sunglasses! And then blog it! Here it is, the 10-minute Glasses Case.
First, cut a piece of felt the size you want (the one above is folded in half) and cut out some simple shapes to adorn your case.
Next, if you're overlapping shapes, secure the smaller shape to the larger with a quick embroidery stitch.
Place your decoration on your felt, remembering that you will be trimming around the sides when you sew it shut. Sew around the decoration. If you don't like the smaller one floppy, sew around that one, too. If you're me, you'll just use whatever thread is on your machine or a color for which you already have a bobbin.
Sew around the edges, leaving enough room to trim. I used a decorative stitch in a contrasting thread color. Make sure you place your glasses in there before you sew to double check how easily you can get them in and out. I used a 3/4" seam allowance on the side and a 5/8" on the bottom (just because that's what looked best).
Pink the edges and you're done! I added a piece of velcro since I made the case big enough that my 3-yr-old could put her glasses in and take them out easily. Changing thread would probably have made that look a little better, but I had dishes to wash. And an ice cream bar to eat, 'cause, you know, that seemed important, too. :) Ta da! You're done!

Time well spent, of course! Seems that those 10 minutes probably cleared your head for the rest of tonight. Seeing Amy was wonderful, and it made me miss the rest of you all the more. xo
